What’s next for Chelsea?

As per previous blog, we’ve talked about player’s performance at the club, the mid-season crisis which we all have to endure during the season. The results which are far from the best. In the second half of Chelsea’s season, we improved quite a bit, going from second bottom of the table moving up few places to finished 10th place. It is something positive that we can carry on, assess the team’s locker room and the squad overall. One of many notable players last season was Assane Diao. After a great season at Como with 15 goals and 10 assists, he was caught by the eye of Todd Boehly, who make no hesitation… paying his release clause to capture his signature. Fierce off so many competitors with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, and the rich oil monies PSG, but his dream was always to come and play for Chelsea. In his first season at the club, many doubts him whether he has what it takes to achieve what he does at Como because as we all know Premier League is the toughest and most challenging league in the world. We have seen failed wonderkids in the past and got shift out quickly due to poor performances. This is not the case for Diao, who certainly destined for big things. It was no surprised that he proved all the doubters wrong with 12 goals 8 assists to his name. He carry the team on his back alone, and no doubt he will be the main man to build the team around. In the final match, Diao gave an interview and what it looks to be happy times for Chelsea’s supporters.

Reporter: Are you surprised that you performed so well in your first season?

Diao: No no, not at all. This is what we want to accomplished. We have worked so hard as a team week in week out, and the result is what we’ve been paid for. I’m happy with my performance, and will hope to do better next season.

Reporter: There’s a rumor that the club has offered you new contract, any truth in that? and What do you make of it?

Diao: Yes, they offered me 3 years extension which will be expired in 2030. I believe we will achieve great things together. The gaffer, the staffs, and all my teammates are very supportive of me and make me feel very comfortable here at Stamford Bridge, so for sure I will put pen to paper without thinking twice.

Reporter: Awesome, so final question, what do you hope to achieve next season?

Diao: I can assure all Chelsea’s supporter that I will give it my all. I’m hoping to score and help my team assist more than last season and the result will come.

Next season’s plan

Not long from now until the second season starts. Preparation is very important in this period and assess the team as a whole. What is needed and what’s not needed at the club. Decision will be made soon. The young’uns squad can definitely handles the pressure but when it comes to crucial moment, we may need a captain – leader to lead the team to victory. That’s something we’ll be discussing after Transfer Deadline day.

What’s your hopeful signing on TDD?

Well one thing for certain is that the club in dire need of a Left fullbacks. We don’t really have cover in that position so it is really tough when stamina runs out/injury hits. After Ayrton Costa transferred to Montpellier, Veiga was the only capable left defense and the position has yet to be filled, we’re hopeful that players available on TDD will suit the styles of Drock’s especially Attacking fullback style, pace can’t hurt and versatility is key! We all will be on the lookout of what to come. Exciting players will be joining the club soon and unfortunately some have to make way.

A new era has just begun, more to come next!!! Hope you all enjoy it!
