Benfica – A new beginning? Or an early fall?
The request for SL Benfica to set foot in the FGN full manual league was approved, now here is the catch… They were not expecting it, and they needed a coach, they brought in the inexperienced but loving supporter Rui Santo, but what does his love for the club assemble positively relatively to any other supporter, who loves the club as much or more than him? That’s the important question because it wasn’t a smooth launch, as everyone would expect from a newly assembled rookie manager, to coach a team with bigger expectations than his own record. Does not translate to his will, he does not lack the commitment, but he is short fallen on grounding the basics whilst the club undertake very harsh critic comments from the supporters.
An early associate assembly was put together, to make sure Rui is the right coach for SL Benfica, that being short or long term. His team being ambitious enough although naive, was fined a hefty 25 M€, from the FGN association & administration of football, being that the first and his only miscalculation as of now, from trying to scout a player more expensive than what they really could afford, can only blame the coach because the team’s accountant said it was not a wise move to try and do that.
Now from the manager’s point of view, Rui underwent a brief interview about his current situation, what he is willing to do and change or maintain, citing his words:
-“Pardon my french, I know I commit and I make a lot of mistakes related to the club, they chose an early green coach, and that results aren’t everything in football, but I will never discredit this club’s greatness and I am willing to shed blood and tears for this club, as long as Benfica wants me as their representative for the FGN league, I will do everything in my power professionally and as a fan, as many may know in many other areas of the club, they have chose great and renown managers who weren’t able to perform, so sometimes a big name doesn’t always equate do big results. I will not run this club on emotions but you can be sure this is the club my heart chose, and no one will ever take that way from me, either I’m a coach or not, I will always support Benfica.“
Spoken words transmitted from the directory of the SL Benfica FGN League board and administration:
“-We fully trust and support the manager we have appointed to run the FGN Fuma football league, we have a close proximity with the league and they are also happy with the coach, we have to give opportunity to those who seem to deserve it, this is new to us as well, we will maintain him as long as he resonates with the ideals we have for the club, it is unreasonably early to discuss terms with both parties, whereas the fact we’re also early for a commodity we cannot judge, indeed a rough but merely commence.“
After both the coach and the board of the club had their beliefs declared and displayed publicly, the supporters had something to say, and some of them weren’t pretty…
“-Why do we want a manager who cannot take the word from his accountant, even tho it’s simple math, and almost ruin something that wasn’t even fully set yet, for our great club?“
“-The board either think this are funny little silly games, even tho it’s not Champions League or Portuguese league, it means a lot to us supporters, something new and something we wanted to see, and now that our hopes have been called, now they tell us to trust a manager as green as broccoli on fresh grass, I see it like this, either they don’t care, or they’re all a bunch of useless pr*cks… I would say fire them all, the board and that little br*tty coach.“
“-I mean yeah he loves the club, but my grandma does too. That doesn’t mean I would put my grandma in charge, see what I mean?”
“-Give him time, I believe in him… He has fire in veins, he’s naive but smart, don’t be fooled by it“.
“-If for some reason he makes me change my mind, I’ll invite him and every single thing on the menu are on us, for us to chew our words, come visit us at Tasquinha do Benfica, in Lisbon, where great figures have passed by, he’s not great, for me and for now not even a figure of the club, we’ll see.“
“-Wonder why, they had so many other names, more experienced, of the supporter’s liking as well, why would they choose this guy? Amateur board, amateur coach, money laundering maybe? Not buying it.“
“-Outrageous, I’d think I would never see them (Administration of FGN League) pitty a team as “big” as Benfica, if we can call him a big team nowadays, ffs (as he laughed to himself loudly hahahah) they reduced the fine of pitty for the coach, we’re dealing with pitty now… If that doesn’t upset yourself as a supporter, don’t call yourself a supporter.“
“-It’s not the coach to blame for, but the board, they should have known better by now, it’s not always the results it’s everything summed up, even if for an league they’ve never have played before, they should have aimed higher… Disappointed to say the least…“
