The Art of FGN
Welcome to My First Art of FGN blog post!
Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share my very first blog post with you. It feels like such a privilege to have the freedom to create illustrations and graphics here on Football Geek Network (FGN). It truly allows me to unleash my creativity and bring some fresh ideas to life.
For my first post, I wanted to highlight one of the most exciting and important aspects of the FGN community: the Transfer Market. We all know how thrilling and sometimes even stressful (in a fun way!) the Transfer Market can be—there’s nothing quite like the buzz of wheeling and dealing! So, I decided that my first illustration would capture the essence of this exciting period in the football world.
After making some initial notes and drawing from my previous experiences being involved in Transfer Markets on PEN and FLM, I sketched an idea that I felt represented the heart of the Transfer Market experience. However, I didn’t want the illustration to be too busy or overwhelming, so I made sure to keep it clean and focused on key elements.
Here’s a breakdown of my creative process, step by step, which you can see in the illustration below:
1. Initial Sketch: I started with a sketch of the FLM guy sitting at his laptop, surrounded by key elements that symbolize the Transfer Market and the deals being made. I wanted to capture the energy and the hustle of this dynamic process.
2. Line Work: I then took the sketch into Adobe Animate, where I traced over the initial drawing, turning it into clean line work. This stage helped define the character and layout more clearly.
3. Colouring and Shading: After the line work was done, I moved on to colouring the artwork and adding shade/rendering to give it depth. I saved this as a transparent PNG so there would be no background, allowing me to focus on the next stage.
4. Adding the Final Background: For the final image, I created a gradient background using key colours from the FGN logo. After that, I imported the transparent PNG of the FGN guy into the scene. I also added in the text, badges, and the logo to give it a polished look. For the font, I chose bold white text to make it pop against the gradient background while maintaining a clean, modern feel that suits the brand.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my first blog post. I can’t wait to share more creative work with you all in the future. Stay tuned for more exciting content from me and the FGN team!
Thanks again, and I’ll see you in the next post!
